More about the Support From Our Founding Church
Beacon of Light started in 2021 as a ministry of St. Andrew Methodist Church in Plano, Texas. A handful of committed church members provided the initial seed funding to launch Beacon of Light. Much of the programming in development for other churches originated to meet the specific needs of the greater St. Andrew community. St. Andrew remains the inspiration and vision for Beacon of Light.

In late 2023, Beacon of Light became a separate 501(c)3 non-profit organization, providing greater opportunity for fundraising and for expanding the organization’s mission and reach. Although St. Andrew currently provides an annual grant to Beacon of Light and absorbs a portion of the administrative costs, more than 80 percent of the annual operating budget is funded from the generosity of individual and corporate donors and from private foundations. Additionally, Beacon of Light actively participates in community-based fundraising activities such as North Texas Giving Day.
