Real Impact
Beacon of Light Transforms St. Andrews
Over the past four years, we’ve been developing and implementing this program at our founding church, St. Andrew Methodist in Plano, Texas, and witnessed a powerful transformation. Our pastors and staff feel better equipped, we’ve established clear protocols for responding to individuals in crisis, and, most importantly, every member of our congregation knows that St. Andrew is deeply committed to addressing the mental health needs of our church family.

Questions You Might Have
Below you will find the answers to frequently asked questions about our organization.
Why don’t more churches have mental health initiatives?

Although there is a significant need for church-driven mental health programs, many churches lack the knowledge, experience, and resources to do so. Mental health programming can also be daunting to undertake, so many churches opt to provide referrals to support groups or to local mental health professionals. We believe churches have a unique and important role to play in advancing mental health resources for their communities.

What will be unique about Beacon of Light’s offering?

Designed exclusively for churches, Beacon of Light will provide a turn-key and easy-to-implement framework for churches to develop a mental health ministry meeting the unique needs of their church body and staff. We will offer an extensive range of evidence-based programming and clinical resources all of which have been developed through a Christ-centered, biblical lens.
Our goal is to continue the development of this program in partnership with pilot churches, which will help shape new content based on our ongoing collaboration and shared insights. New content will be regularly distributed to partnering churches and will include online training courses, blogs, podcasts, webinars, training materials, and more – all produced with high professional quality.

Will participating churches have to pay for the Beacon of Light program?

Part of making mental health programming accessible to churches is making it affordable. Beacon of Light training library and services will be priced to cover its costs, not to generate a profit. While we are in the pilot phase and getting feedback from our pilot church partners, we are evaluating the best financial model to provide the highest quality yet most economically feasible program possible.

How will it be customized for my church?

While the universal training and tools provided by Beacon of Light will fit most churches, there is still a level of customization and personalization available to achieve success. For that reason, Beacon of Light listens and adapts the program to the needs of each church while also taking into consideration the scope and size of each church and its staff. Additionally, Beacon works with each church partner to connect them to licensed professional counseling services in their local area (if not already in place), as this is a critical component of the program to make mental health services accessible for the church body and the surrounding community.
